Results for 21st October, Newbridge & Saltford

Well what a horrendous day I had today at Newbridge, there was a boat race on and canoes and boats were everywhere, you could not even get your pole or feeder in the water at times. I had one canoe go upside down in my peg, and two boats turned around in the middle of my peg. Towards the end of the match someone must have opened gates somewhere because the water rose a couple of feet and bombed through really fast, you couldn't even hold bottom. I much prefer our river.
The results were:

Individuals:

1st Guy Manton Thatchers 17lb 08oz
2nd Andy Ottaway Bathampton 13lb 06oz
3rd Nathan Hawkes Bathampton 11lb 04oz
4th Martin Rayett Bathampton 8lb 08oz
5th Tim Ford Amalgamated Fisheries 8lb 03oz
6th Lance Tucker Thyers 8lb 01oz

As you can see Tim done really well for us again, he won his section, and framed again, I think he is probably winning the individuals at the moment.

Barney, Vincent & Richard Schollar all finished 3rd in their sections.

Hopefully we will do better next time, it was a very hard match match today for most people, the fish are shoaled up at the moment.

Results for 4th November, Crane, Jack Whites & Frys

Today's match was quite hard in places with the Bream not really showing. The odd chub showed but it was mostly roach catches. There are far too many Pike in the river and a lot of people are having trouble with the Pike, which is a shame because they do not count even if they are caught.

Individuals on the day:

1st Dave Bessel Maver Veals 26lb 05oz
2nd Paul Issacs Bathampton 17lb 10oz
3rd Graham Hunt Bathampton 16lb 04oz
4th Glen Bailey Maver Veals 14lb 10oz
5th Vincent Lunn Amalgamated Fisheries 14lb 02oz
6th Andy Britt Bathampton 12lb 05oz

Dave was on the lone tree at Frys and he caught Roach and Chub on the wagler, Paul was also at Frys. Graham was on permanant peg 29 at Swineford and he caught Roach on castor down the middle on a stick float. Glen was in the Donkey field at the Crane and he caught Roach on the pole, Vincent was on permanant peg 16 at Swineford and he caught Roach on the pole and Chub on the Crowquill, Andy was on permanant peg 2 at Swineford and he had all bleak on the whip. Proves thers a lot of small fish around now doesn't it.
Barney, Vincent and Tim were all 2nd in their section, Mike was 3rd in his. Tim, Barney and Vincent are all up in the top individuals overall, Tim was leading it, I think he probably still is.

Results for 19th November - Newbridge

What an awful day, everyone was was well and truly drenched, the wind was so bad at times you could hardly stand up. I did not fish today, I walked the bank and got soaked instead, I broke two umbrellas.

Lee & Shane finished 2nd in their sections, Vincent was 3rd, and Mike G, Barnie and Mike Kent all finished 4th.

Tim did not get a good draw which was unfortunate as he was leading the individuals. We now have Barnie in 5th place in the individuals and Tim and Vincent in joint 6th place. Barnie and Vincent are also down to the last 4 in the knockout.

Results for 25th November - Canal Bathampton

We had a good days fishing today, if Pike counted I would have framed as I landed a double figure pike on .07 line. I was hoping I would lose it as I am terrified of them. Never mind I concered my fear and cut the line on it after I had it in my net, I thought I was very brave. There was no way I was going to pick it up though.
Vincent won his section and finished 3rd in the match, Barney & Shane were 2nd in their sections and Jerry and Tim 3rd, Dave was 4th and I was 5th.

Individuals.
1 Tony Goodland Thyers 21lb 13oz of small roach and skimmers from end peg at Claverton.

I'm sorry I did not manage to catch the teams result today but I will send it through when I know it.

Knockout Final; (To be fished next week)

Vincent Lunn Amalgamated Fisheries v Darren Gilman Bathampton.

Unfortunately Barney got knocked out by Darren, but Vincent knocked out Dave Wride of Thyers.

Going for Winter League individuals I think Vincent is now in 3rd place, just 3 points behind the leader, and Tim and Barney not far behind, they will almost definately be in the top 10.
Lets hope one of them wins it, and that Vincent wins the knockout too.

Results for 2nd December - Canal Bathampton

Sorry I did not have time to send all the results last night. We had an awful hard match with the wind and rain, there were quite a few poles broken due to the bad weather conditions, Paul Benson actually lost all his gear in the canal when the gusts of winds started, he had to get into the canal, retrieve everything that he could, he then went home to change, went to a shop to buy a new net, came back to the canal, started over an hour late, and still won his section.

Vincent Lunn won the knockout, finished 2nd in the individuals only missing out by 1 point, he won his section and finished 5th in the match, he did really well, especially in those awful conditions. Tim also did well finishing 2nd in his section, Mike, Lee & Dave all finished 4th.

Well that is the Winter League finished now until October next year, hopefully we can go in and do even better next year, I think we did pretty well in our first year, especially when you think of the top quality of all the anglers in the league.
