Otter Fence Update

The otter fence project at Tockenham Lake has been completed. The fence is now fully operational, some fine details are required to finish the fence such as installing a few missing brackets. Access to the lake is via an inner gate, this gate must be kept closed at all times after entering and leaving the lake.

Many tons of stone have been laid and rolled in all around the lakes access areas and car parks. Drainage pipes and ditches have been added in the wooded and surrounding areas to improve drainage.

We would like to thank Jamie at Embryo Angling for helping with the design and access to materials and contractors Luke and Mitch for completing the project. These guys worked through the wettest winter and early spring period and went beyond what was asked to improve the fishery

New carp stocking at Tockenham
Early October 2022 we took delivery of 20 mirror carp from Mark Simmonds. They are all absolute stunners and C4s in the weight range 11 to 15lbs. This is the ideal weight for rapid growth.
Here are a few photos of some of the examples put in today.
It is phase 1 of a restocking programme over the next few years.

October 25th 2022 saw the addition of 400 tench weighing from 0.5lb. to 1lb. We hope they can survive in the second stage of our restocking programme. 5 slings of these fish went into the lake in the morning – see photo and video of a sling being released. . More restocking to follow.

Tockenham Reservoir

Please note that the gate is now locked and should be kept locked. The combination number is shown on your Annual Permit.

This is because we are having problems with walkers and dog owners using the venue and non-anglers using the site to dispose of their rubbish and general garden waste. As usual it is left to the bailiffs to keep the venue tidy.

Please lock the gate behind you after entry and also when you leave to prevent unauthorised entry and hence minimise litter.

It is in all our interest to keep the reservoir in good condition and to protect our fishery and all the wild life from damage due to the dangerous disposal of litter.
